Award interpretation

Award interpretation software with the interpretation included

Most systems hand you a rules engine and the risk that goes with it. We read your award and enterprise agreement, build the rules, and show the clause behind every pay line.

15 minutes, your EBA, no sales script.

How it works

From written clause to priced pay line

  1. Step 1

    We read the documents

The award you rely on, the enterprise agreement, the RDO calendar, site specific allowances and any side letters that change how you pay.

  2. Step 2

    We build the rules

Thresholds, sequences, breaks, penalties, allowances, loadings and accruals become rules in your payroll, tested against a real pay period.

  3. Step 3

Every pay line cites its clause

Open any line on a payslip and you can see the rule and the clause that priced it, which is what you need when a delegate or an auditor asks.

  4. Step 4

    We keep it current

Annual wage reviews, agreement increases, superannuation rate changes and new agreements get staged so they switch on the day they take effect, back pay included.

Coverage

Rules we build as a matter of course

If your agreement writes it, we build it. Nothing on this list is an extra.

  • Daily and weekly overtime thresholds, in clause order
  • First two hours then double time, plus crib and rest breaks
  • Saturday, Sunday and public holiday sequences
  • Site, height, confined space, travel and fares allowances
  • RDO accrual, banked days, shutdown and substituted days
  • Shift loadings, broken shifts and on call
  • Apprentice progression and junior rates
  • Redundancy fund and portable leave contributions
  • Casual loading interaction with penalties
  • Annual leave loading and termination calculations

Worked examples live in shift and sequence rules, RDO rules and rate increases. You can also check a rate yourself with the award rate checker.

Award interpretation questions

What is award interpretation software?

Software that turns written pay rules into calculations. It takes hours worked and applies the award and enterprise agreement to produce the correct rate for every hour, rather than relying on a person to remember which penalty applies.

Do you configure it or do we?

We do. Most systems give you a rules engine and leave the interpretation risk with you. We read the documents and build the rules, then maintain them as rates change.

Can it handle an award and an EBA together?

Yes, and that is the normal case in construction. The agreement sits over the award and the better off overall comparison matters, so both sets of rules are built and applied in the right order.

How do we prove a pay line is right?

Every line shows the rule and clause that priced it. That is the evidence you want in a wage audit, a delegate conversation or a Fair Work enquiry.

What happens when the agreement is renegotiated?

We build the current agreement and stage the new one so it takes effect on its operative date, with back pay applied where it is owed.

What does it cost?

$15 per employee per month, plus a one off setup fee per enterprise agreement we read and build.
